About
Amanda Bourne is a Mexican American hairstylist, makeup artist, men’s groomer, and licensed cosmetologist with 15 years of experience across . Born in Artesia and raised in the Inland Empire by working-class Southern California natives, she is proud to be a Los Angeles native building a career in entertainment. A member of IATSE Locals 706 and 798, she specializes in bringing characters and stories to life through hair and makeup.
As the first person in her family to work in entertainment, Amanda understands that growing up near the industry doesn’t necessarily mean knowing how to enter it. That experience drives her passion for education and for making career opportunities more accessible to local artists who may not have connections or a clear starting point.
Amanda holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in writing from the University of California, Santa Barbara. What initially felt like a detour became a foundation for her creative work. Studying sociology deepened her understanding of people and relationships, informing both her personal connections and her approach to character development. Her background in writing strengthens the storytelling at the heart of her craft.
Alongside her production work, Amanda offers consulting, mentorship, and classes for hairstylists and makeup artists looking to build careers in film, television, and creative production. Her teaching combines practical skills with guidance on career direction, portfolio development, assisting, set etiquette, and professional relationships.
As a hair and makeup consultant at USC’s School of Dramatic Arts, she supports student productions and provides hands-on instruction to emerging artists. Across her classes and individual consulting, Amanda creates space for questions, experimentation, and being new, helping artists identify their next steps and approach opportunities with greater confidence.
